Enhancing On-demand Connectivity

Overview/Description
To identify and use the commands required to configure both ISDN basic rate and primary rate connections

Target Audience
Network engineers responsible for configuring, implementing, troubleshooting, and managing WAN and remote access solutions; network architects responsible for designing WAN and remote access solutions; CCNP candidates; CCIE candidates

Prerequisites
A knowledge of general networking terms and concepts; experience in general Cisco router operation and configuration, including TCP/IP, routing protocols (RIP, IGRP), routed protocols (IP, IPX), standard and extended access lists, PPP operation and configuration over serial links, Frame Relay operation and configuration on interfaces and subinterfaces, and legacy DDR over ISDN-BRI operation and configuration; a basic knowledge of data networking equivalent to the information in the Cisco Certified Network Associate Basics (CCNAB) v2.0 course and the Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND) v2.0 course; experience working in a network environment is recommended

Expected Duration
160 Minutes

Objectives:

Enhancing On-demand Connectivity

  • recognize ISDN BRI services and protocols, and identify the steps and commands required to configure ISDN BRI.
  • recognize the services and reference points used in an ISDN PRI and identify the steps and commands required to configure an ISDN PRI connection.
  • list the steps required to configure DDR, and define and configure interesting traffic on selected interfaces.
  • configure a simple ISDN network and define interesting traffic with dialer and access lists.
  • configure ISDN BRI and PRI interfaces.
  • identify and configure optional ISDN PPP configuration features including Multilink PPP, caller identification screening, and called-party number verification.
  • identify the commands that can be used to monitor and troubleshoot ISDN BRI B and D channels.
  • configure ISDN BRI on a branch router.
