  • identify the possible applications of the services that ATM can support.
  • discuss the Switched Multimegabit Data Service (SMDS) and Circuit Emulation Services (CES).
  • discuss LAN Emulation (LANE).
  • discuss the operation and implementation of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) on an enterprise network.
  • identify the standards that define Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM).
  • identify the components necessary to enable LAN Emulation (LANE) over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and to differentiate between MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) and MultiProtocol over ATM (MPOA).
  • discuss the interworking of ATM with wireless networks and DSL technologies.
  • discuss the interworking of Gigabit Ethernet and Frame Relay with ATM.
  • discuss SONET/SDH.
  • identify the relationship between ATM and other transmission technologies.
