Noise Hazards


Overview/Description
Noise, or unwanted sound, is one of the most pervasive occupational health problems. It is a by-product of many industrial processes. Exposure to high levels of noise can cause hearing loss and other harmful health effects as well. OSHA's hearing conservation standards have been designed to protect workers with significant occupational noise exposures from suffering material hearing impairment. This course teaches basic hearing conservation measures and standards for employees and managers. Main topics include hearing health hazards, OSHA standards for hearing conservation, monitoring hearing hazards, performing audiometric evaluation, personal hearing protection devices, and training for hearing safety. The course addresses OSHA regulation 1910.95.
