To instruct the user on the different database management system models and to explain the non-relational models in detail
To instruct the user on the relational database management system models and to explain the different terms associated with relational models
To outline Codd's twelve rules and describe their contents
To introduce the entity and referential integrity rules
To introduce the relational operators and identify their value as a means of easy data manipulation
To describe the three levels in the database architecture and to relate these to data independence
