Ethics

Overview/Description
The corporate scandals of the 1980s increased the need for the development of corporate and legal standards for ethical conduct in business. The perceived lack of integrity in the business world and the lack of concern for the consumer at that time heightened demands for businesses to develop a stronger focus on their social responsibilities. Consequently, businesses in today's corporate environment face the constant challenge of conforming to business ethics and corporate social responsibility (CSR). This course considers the concept of ethics and its role in today's corporate culture. It looks at the impact of business ethics on both the individual and the organization and covers the process of ethical decision making, the creation of a code of ethics, and the development of a corporate ethical framework for implementation in the business environment. SkillSoft's Legal Compliance courses are developed and maintained with subject matter support provided by the Labor, Employment, and Employee Benefits Law Group of the law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA.
